Discovering and developing innovative ideas: As a doctoral student at the SMBS, you are working directly with the supervising university professors on your doctoral thesis. The doctoral program supports you scientifically and enables you to network and exchange experience with other doctoral students.

In 3 years to Ph.D. in International Business Management

The doctoral program with a focus on international business management is divided into doctoral seminars, conference assignments, doctoral theses, publications as well as teaching activities and the doctoral thesis (doctoral thesis). 6 research seminars (18-20 attendance days) are held in the first 4 semesters at SMBS in Salzburg. In the third year of study, a study stay of at least 4 weeks is planned at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Brisbane.

Application and transfer-oriented research: Doctorate to Ph.D. within a research project with a scientific issue

Admission

Completed, state-recognized master’s degree or a comparable, state-recognized degree in a diploma program; Assessment interview; limited number of students

Academic degree

Ph.D. (May be given in AUT and GER as Dr. before the name. In Switzerland as Ph.D.)

Didactics

Research project, ongoing evaluations, double-teaching with a professor from a German-speaking country, as well as a professor / professor of the USC

Aims

The SMBS – University of Salzburg Business School – offers qualified professionals executive promotion to the Ph.D.. The research project with a concrete issue definition from practice and the accompanying colloquia form the basis of the dissertation for the Ph.D..

The doctorate is characterized by practice-oriented research, transfer-oriented research management and competent project management. A scientific network is available to support the knowledge acquisition, support and transfer.

 

Inhalte des PhD Studiums der USC

1. Jahr

This seminar introduces students to
the philosophy of research, research
ethics, approaches to framing
questions and designing research,
proposal writing, sampling, and data
collection methods.

Graduate-level introduction to critical issues in research methodology relevant for the social sciences. Special focus will be on theory-driven, qualitative and quantitative approaches to research.

Students learn to analyze data in the performance of business research using advanced statistical methods. Students will formulate models, use software to determine optimal model parameters, and analyze the results for validity.

2. Jahr

This course introduces students to linear and non-linear regression models for the analysis of quantitative data and provides in-depth knowledge of advanced statistical methods, including SEM and econometric modelling.

This seminar explores the prominent perspectives of international theorists and researchers in HRM and OB literature. Students will work to build a foundation with which they can build their own research agendas regarding business management in a global context.

Graduate-level introduction to social and industrial- organizational psychology. Emphasis on major theories, issues, and literature regarding social psychology and organizational behavior in domestic and international contexts.

Doctoral seminar / Research workshops
(duration: ca. 4 weeks)

Im Zentrum des Doktoratsprogramms* steht die Dissertation. Diese wird in Form eines empirisch geprägten Forschungsvorhabens ausgearbeitet. Der Forschungsfortschritt und die methodisch korrekte Vorgehensweise im Forschungsprojekt werden durch regelmäßige Evaluierungen begleitet. Die Studierenden stehen von Beginn an unter der Doppelbetreuung eines Professors/Professorin der USC. Parallel dazu ist die Teilnahme an Doktorandenseminaren, Konferenzen bzw. Doktorandenworkshops, Veröffentlichung von Publikationen sowie div. Unterrichtsaktivitäten verpflichtend. Im dritten/vierten Studienjahr ist ein Studienaufenthalt von mind. 4 Wochen an der University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Brisbane vorgesehen.

Machen Sie Ihr Doktoratsstudium bzw. Ihren PhD an der University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, in administrativer Kooperation mit der SMBS!

In administrativer Kooperation mit der University of the Sunshine Coast/Australien/Brisbane und der University of Latvia/Riga werden Doktoratsstudien an der SMBS angeboten.

Die SMBS administriert und serviciert diese Programme. Die Forschungsseminare finden großteils in Salzburg und zum Teil in Australien bzw. Riga statt. Diese Programme können auch berufsbegleitend absolviert werden.

Die akademischen Grade Dr. und PhD werden von den staatlichen Universitäten University of the Sunshine Coast bzw. der University of Latvia verliehen!
